FROM THE EDITOR Kevin Birnbaum Sometimes I wonder: What am I even doing here? So many responsibilities, anxieties and distractions demand our time and attention each day. It’s easy to lose sight of the big picture: We are created for communion with God. And this is possible only through prayer. Do you pray as much as you should? I don’t. I get lazy and make excuses, even though I know this makes no sense. Almighty God — the source of all goodness, beauty and love — wants to spend time with me. And I’m ......... what? Too busy? Bored? “There is need of only one thing,” Jesus says — to bask in his presence and listen to his voice. This is prayer. And in this issue, I hope you’ll find a wealth of resources to inspire and enhance your own prayer life. By the way, welcome to the new and improved Northwest Catholic.
